Streaks, blotches, and dark spots, oh my! Self-tanner: in theory, genius – in reality, can lead to some embarrassing mishaps.
I am a huge fan of the St. Tropez self-tanner line (both the foam and in-shower formulas). However, as fabulous as they may be the preparation for using a self-tanner is just as important to the success of the colour as the actual product!
So what’s the secret?
- Before applying get your skin good to go. Shower, shave and exfoliate. Make sure you give lots of focus to buffing out your elbows, knees, and any other rough areas with a loofah or exfoliating mitt.
- After your shower moisturize from head-to-toe. Again, give some extra TLC to any rough areas to ensure the self-tanner goes on evenly without settling into dry spots.
- Once you’ve applied your tanning lotion/foam be sure to regularly moisturize before bed to help keep your tan lasting long and evenly for the following days.
These three steps are super easy, but often overlooked. Remember these key tips and you’ll be beach ready without the harmful UVR damage this summer!
